About Us

We Have One Goal

Sophie Farms & Investment Services Limited, registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (RC1433125) in 2018, it emerged from a vision to optimize the value chain distribution, empowering farmers and fostering an inclusive agricultural system. Sophie Foods is a subsidiary of Sophie farms and investment service limited that offers Agri-business consultancy, extension service for venture creation, farm management, capacity building and scaling, business development services, food processing, Agro-commodity sourcing and integration for export. The two-product line for Sophie Foods are the Dehydrated tomato powder and Mixed Cereal Formula.

In today’s fast paced world, the proportion of people that consume balance diet has retrogressed due to factors like affordability, lifestyle schedules and less nutritious substitute intake. The dehydrated tomato powder provides a convenient solution retaining all the nutrients to prevent spoilage. The cereal is a combination of a well-balanced nutritious meal to help fit our schedules.

As at 2018, Nigeria was the 14th largest producer of tomato and the 3rd largest producer in Africa. As reported by the Global Alliance for improved nutrition, Marketing of fresh tomato is a great problem because of its short postharvest life which leads to high postharvest losses, over 45% of tomato is lost due to poor supply chain management, price instability due to seasonal fluctuations and weak demand during peak production. The round shaped fruit produce has periods of seasonal imbalance which leads to a hike in price and customer sentiments leads to a reduction on its consumption. The development of low-cost processing and packaging methodologies to produce shelf-stable and convenience products are the prime requirements of the present competitive market. This is expected to reduce tomato wastage by 60%.

There’s an increasing concern on the malnutrition spectrum. According to the UNICEF, Malnourishment is one of the underlying causes of 45% of deaths in children. Nigeria has the second highest burden of stunted children in the world with a larger distribution to the northern Nigeria. The cause can be likened to the financial capability, nutritional awareness and poor eating choices. Sophie foods has identified this loophole in the market and created a multifunctional cereal packet that subsidize the pricing factor and fulfills all nutritional benefits.
